Pasted this from over on my ottawa-eh account:
Um so I just found out (from the NaNo website, of all places!!!) that Robert Jordan died the 16th of this month, from a rare blood disease.
I'm feeling a little guilty, for some ridiculous reason. Part of it is that....well....I don't know what part of it is. I was actually just thinking about the Wheel of Time series yesterday, and how the first six books are so amazing, and then they just kinda go downhill. And I had been thinking about how he had said it was going to be trilogy, and then about the fact that the 12th book STILL hasn't come out.
And then I saw the topic on NaNo today, and it was just a mix of guilt and sadness and general bummer-tude. The person who posted the topic copied and pasted his brother's blog, and the brother said he kept his faith to the end, and never gave up on God. Rather fascinating, as I never knew he was a Christian and would never have guessed from his writing. *Resurge of guilty feelings*
I don't know. It's just all bizarre.
And as much as I complain about his books, he brought a bunch of readers characters like Perrin Aybara and Lan Mandragoran, and places like Tear and Illian and crazy stuff like Aes Sedai and those evil Red Ajah. Admit it, you've either 1) always wanted to personally strangle a Red Ajah, or 2) always wanted to BE a Red Ajah.
So thanks, RJ, and I hope you are with God today. :D
